SUMMARY:Hotel California: The Original Eagles Tribute
DESCRIPTION:When The Eagles stopped to catch their breath a few decades ago\, having sold over 100 million records\, collected six Grammy’s\, and enjoyed six #1 albums\, Hotel California began a pioneering journey through their history-making  music that has taken them around the globe and thrilled hundreds of thousands of Eagles fans. It’s been a journey they could never have imagined back in 1986\, but their dedication\, unique musical gifts\, and an obsessive commitment to doing this legendary music true justice in performance\, set them apart from the many Eagles bands that came after them. Hotel California toured relentlessly from the 80’s straight through to today\, setting the standard for world-class tribute productions as they went\, and sharing stages with the likes of The Doobie Bros.\, Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Gretchen Wilson\, REO Speedwagon\, and many more.  From Japan to Dubai\, Toronto to Texas\, Hotel California has boldly taken the tribute band where none had gone before them\, and changed an industry’s collective mind about how good a “tribute” band could really be. \nToday Hotel California continues to tour internationally\, and their stage show has evolved into one of the most impressive and popular productions on the North American soft-seat and festival circuits. Featuring original members within their strongest lineup to date\, the band is enjoying what they do today more than ever – and it sure sounds like it! It won’t take you long to hear why legions of Eagles fans come back to see them time after time\, and the top venues & festivals have them back again and again. The easy-going warmth that comes from the band onstage exemplifies the Southern California sound of the 1970’s. The experience of a Hotel California show isn’t just about the band – it’s about celebrating the music and the memories\, and the band gets the audiences involved and on their feet! Close your eyes and you’re right back there… \nFor any band to continually exceed such high expectations this deep into their career\, and remain at the top of their field for as long as Hotel California have\, is a truly remarkable accomplishment. That’s why when top talent buyers need the proven\, absolute highest quality Eagles show in the world\, they book the original Hotel California year after year.  –  Steve Birnstihl\, CTA Tributes \nThe members of Hotel California have also performed in many other touring bands\, such as The Guess Who\, April Wine\, Glass Tiger\, Coney Hatch\, and Foot In Cold Water. \nTickets: $50 Admission (+applicable taxes & fees)

SUMMARY:Mi’ma’omakw: People of the Salmon
DESCRIPTION:Mi’ma’omakw: People of the Salmon\nFilm Chronicles Indigenous-led Initiative to Rebuild Wild Salmon Stocks\nPremiere at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River \nA documentary takes viewers behind the scenes of an unprecedented partnership between three coastal First Nations in their pursuit to protect wild Pacific salmon from the impacts of open-net pen fish farms in their traditional territories. \nIn 2018\, the Mamalilikulla\, ‘Namgis\, and Kwikwasut’inux Haxwa’mis First Nations (the Broughton Nations)\, negotiated the first consent based government-to-government agreement that implemented the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in British Columbia. Through this agreement with BC and subsequent agreements with industry\, the Broughton Nations have developed and implemented a monitoring plan for fish farms in the Broughton Archipelago area\, near the northern tip of Vancouver Island\, that allows them unparalleled access and regulatory oversight over operations of the fish farms. \nSince inception of the plan\, ten farms underwent a phased decommissioning process and on March 2nd\, 2023\, the Broughton Nations communicated to Mowi and Cermaq that they would not provide the written agreements to those companies that are required for them to continue to operate their fish farms in the Nations’ respective territories. The three Nations made their decisions based on their Indigenous laws and the precautionary principle. \nThis short film was produced by the Broughton Aquaculture Transition Initiative\, a wild salmon monitoring program developed by the Broughton Nations. It was directed by Damien Gillis\, who followed the program in action during their first year of operation. Teams of monitoring technicians from each Nation regularly conduct inspection activities on fish farms\, in addition to wild salmon population and habitat monitoring and restoration activities. \nThe film\, which features stunning cinematography of wild salmon and coastal wildlife\, makes its premiere at the Tidemark Theatre in Campbell River on April 27\, 2023. It chronicles the longstanding concerns of these Nations about the impacts of fish farms on wild salmon and the marine environment\, which lead to negotiations with the Province of British Columbia starting in 2017. \nThis event will include the film screening\, presentations\, comments from the three Chief Councillors of the Broughton Nations\, and a question and answer session. Popcorn will be included! \nFor Further information about the film\, please contact communications@mamalilikulla.ca \nTickets: $12.50 Admission (+applicable taxes & fees)
