SUMMARY:The Comedy of Music - Gorge Hall Cortes Island
DESCRIPTION:The Comedy of Music is a one-man variety show\, conducted by the world-famous Maestro Sir Oscar Stickman (K. Bozhinov). Using a combination of musical talent and humour Maestro leads us in a rediscovery of the arts and the fundamental role they play in modern culture. He accomplishes this with his brilliant use of a multitude of musical instruments and an assortment of songs and dances\, wrapped in layers of comical stories and anecdotes. \nYou will hear several musical instruments\, most of which Maestro plays pretty well. The guitar will introduce the accordion\, which may necessitate the piano to cover the pennywhistle. You will recognize that Maestro Stickman’s seemingly endless talent is spread in all artistic directions as he satirically demonstrates that modern visual art is no more difficult to master than an exquisite Greek folk dance. Maestro also reveals his passionate side with a tender Irish ballad and an Argentinian tango. In one of the practical portions\, Sir Stickman comically demonstrates what to do while on hold and which 1-800 line to call if you need a backup orchestra. And a highlight of the show has to be Maestro’s playing of a Beethoven symphony on a comb as one of his brilliant ideas on how to reform classical music! \nMaestro Sir Oscar Stickman presents a satirical view on modern culture and in this way presents a wonderful reassessment of the arts and their role in contemporary society. If you struggle to see the point of a symphony orchestra\, or of Mozart\, this show is for you. But no matter if your preference is for dance\, for singing\, for music\, or just plain old jokes about violins and politicians\, Maestro Stickman has it all!www.TheComedyofMusic.com \nKonstantin R. Bozhinov\, PhD (ABD)\, is a stage performer\, specializing in improvisation\, composition\, and character comedy. Based in Vancouver since 2006\, he enjoys a busy concert schedule as soloist\, educator\, writer and entertainer. \nHe holds a Performance Diploma in Classical guitar from Douglas College and a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar and lute performance from the University of British Columbia\, where he studied with Michael Strutt and his mentor Ray Nurse. \nGraduate studies include a Master of Music degree in lute performance from McGill University\, where he studied basso continuo with Hank Knox and French baroque lute\, baroque guitar and archlute\, under Sylvain Bergeron. \nA PhD candidate in historical musicology at the University of Victoria\, Konstantin is an active researcher of Baroque performance practice\, French opera\, improvisation\, and compositional technique in the 18th century. As part of the chamber group Stile Moderno\, Konstantin has given numerous recitals with violinist Arthur Neele and gambist Natalie Mackie. \nKonstantin has recently appeared with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra\, on frequent tours of the Discovery Islands in BC (playing accordion and lute)\, with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra\, and in with renowned baroque violinist Marc Destrubé. As a specialist in improvisation\, Konstantin gives frequent recitals of his own compositions. He is the manager of world-famous celebrity conductor Maestro Sir Oscar Stickman.www.konstantin-bozhinov.com \nTickets: $15 Adult\, Children 12 & Under Free
