SUMMARY:Janelle Fung & Marina Thibeault
DESCRIPTION:Thibeault is an accomplished concerto soloist who has performed with such ensembles as the North Czech Philharmonic and the Santiago Chamber Orchestra. Her first album\, 2017’s Toquade\, was nominated for two awards\, and her ELLES recording was Juno nominated in 2020. Praised for her persuasive tone and elegant technique as much as her compelling on-stage presence\, Thibeault is never less than a delight. Thibeault’s partner\, Janelle Fung\, won an “artist of the year” award from the BC Touring Council in 2014 and never looked back: her busy touring schedule has seen her perform in over 20 countries on five continents\, including in the demanding realm of chamber music where she has appeared in concert with the Ying Quartet and the New York Woodwind Quintet. Fung\, too\, is equally popular with audiences and critics. These two compelling artists have notable chemistry\, so expect a spellbinding evening of musical magic. \nMore information is available at: marinathibeault.com and janellefung.com \nTickets: $20 Advance\, $25 At the Door (+applicable taxes & fees)

SUMMARY:The McDades
DESCRIPTION:Punching through the walls of tradition\, The McDades’ Celtic-rooted music fuses the spontaneity of jazz improvisation and infectious global rhythms. The Juno Award winners’ cutting edge sound is the perfect complement to their fiery performances. At the heart of the group are siblings Shannon\, Solon and Jeremiah who grew up playing Canadian folk music alongside their parents and among artists from around the world; a unique upbringing that led to a love and respect for all music. Their ground-breaking compositions and innovative arrangements are characterized by stunning virtuosity and a near-telepathic interaction on stage. Their performances feature both energetic instrumentals and moving vocals performed in English and French. The McDades are winners of the Juno Award for Best Roots album and two Canadian Folk Music Awards – “World Group of the Year” and “Instrumental Album of the Year”. Their new album “The Empress” continues to highlight the group’s one-of-a-kind sound and irresistible groove. \nMore information is available at: themcdades.com \nTickets: $20 Advance\, $25 At the Door (+applicable taxes & fees)
