SUMMARY:T. Buckley
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning songwriter T. Buckley stands quietly among a disappearing ilk of true craftsmen. Shadowed by his Western roots\, his soul and voice are unmistakably genuine\, and the result is a class of songsmith long revered and scarcely achieved. The songs are an introspective recount of what a community is all about. T. Buckley\, whose name is actually Tim\, writes songs that are a collection of moments looking back on family life\, community\, lovers and those closest to us. Tim performs with a soulful voice\, and while others create songs out of thin air\, apply a righteous melody & hope it appeals\, Buckley\, focuses on things more specifically from touching moments to dark truths. \nWith influences stemming from the ’60s Laurel Canyon and New York Cafe scenes\, he tells stories embedded with detail\, empathy and heart. Buckley’s dedication to his art has seen him on renowned showcase and festival stages throughout North America. Buckley’s most recent album\, “Frame by Frame\,” has been recognized through Canadian Folk Music Award and Western Canadian Music Award nominations\, as well as a Calgary Music Award for best folk recording. \nVersatility as a songwriter and musician have T. Buckley on the road in a variety of arrangements\, rolling solo\, collaborating with fellow Alberta songsmith John Wort Hannam as The Woodshed and performing with sibling songstress\, Mariel Buckley. Perhaps the perfect vehicle to deliver Buckley’s evocative narratives though\, is his acoustic trio\, whose tight harmonies and intricate arrangements captivate audiences wherever they perform. \nPlease visit quadraconcerts.ca for additional details. \nTickets: $20 Advance\, $25 At the Door (+applicable taxes & fees) \nQuadra Concerts is grateful to the following organizations for their generous sponsorship: Canadian Heritage and the Government of Canada\, Government of  British Columbia\, BC Arts Council\, BC Live Performance Network\, and Strathcona Regional District.

SUMMARY:Slocan Ramblers
DESCRIPTION:Highway 19 Concerts presents a special Family Day matinee featuring Canada’s bluegrass band to watch: the Slocan Ramblers. \nWith a reputation for energetic live shows\, impeccable musicianship and an uncanny ability to convert anyone within earshot into a lifelong fan\, The Slocans have been winning over audiences from Merlefest to RockyGrass and everywhere in between. They were named 2023 Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards\, 2020 International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Band of the Year\, and recently made their debut at the Grand Ole Opry. \nThough the past few years have brought the group accolades\, that same momentum was abruptly halted by the pandemic’s brutal impact on live music. Bandmates Adrian Gross (mandolin) and Darryl Poulsen (guitar/vocals) both lost close family members and their bassist decided to step back from touring to spend more time at home. They channeled these tumultuous changes into some of their most honest and direct compositions yet with “Up the Hill and Through the Fog”\, a surprisingly joyous collection of twelve songs intended to uplift and help make sense of the world. The album showcases the breadth of their varied influences while staying true to their roots in the rough and tumble bluegrass scene of Toronto’s no-nonsense bars and dancehalls. From Frank Evan’s classic\, dusty vocals\, to John Hartford-inspired lyrical musings\, it’s all buttressed by impeccable musicianship\, and emotionally raw songwriting from the three core members. This is roots music without pretension\, bluegrass as catharsis\, powerful enough to cut through the fog and chart a more hopeful course forward. \nThe Slocan Ramblers are: \nFrank Evans: Banjo/Vocals\nAdrian Gross: Mandolin\nDarryl Poulsen: Guitar/Vocals\nwith Charles James: Bass/Vocals \nThe Highway 19 Concert Series is supported by the Province of BC through BC Arts Council and BC Live\, and the Government of Canada’s Department of Canadian Heritage. \nGeneral admission tickets are available for $20 to be affordable to anyone who wishes to attend\, or $30 help sustain this concert series. The choice is yours. Teen tickets are only $5 and tickets for kids are free when accompanied by a paying adult. \nTickets:$30/$20 Adult\, $5 Teen (ages 13-19)\, Child under 13 free with an accompanying adult (+applicable taxes and fees)
