DESCRIPTION:The Tidemark Theatre is excited to present Wolf Castle and Les Hôtesses D’Hilaire\, in partnership with Music From the Edges of Canada! \nMusic from the Edges of Canada is a national music series that showcases 22 artists in 11 Live and Virtual Concerts in four Theatres from the edges of Canada. The venue partners are the Imperial Theatre\, Saint John\, NB; the Tidemark Theatre\, Campbell River\, BC; the Yukon Arts Centre\, Whitehorse\, YT; and the Northern Arts & Cultural Centre\, Yellowknife\, NT. \nWolf Castle \nHailing from Pabineau First Nation in Mi’kma’ki (New Brunswick)\, the 24-year-old Wolf Castle\, aka Tristan Grant\, is a true renaissance artist. Gifted with a DIY spirit thanks to being raised on the reservation by a family of artists\, musicians\, and filmmakers\, Grant taught himself to write music and play piano at the age of 11\, and has released new projects—written\, recorded\, and produced mainly by himself—every year since he was 17. As a student of art history and fashion\, his spitfire flow and precise production are as carefully constructed as haute couture\, and every bespoke beat\, rhyme\, and hook has the flourish of a master craftsman\, stitched together under the House of Wolf Castle. “Heart on my sleeve\,” he declares. “Wear it as a war bonnet.” \nLes Hôtesses d’Hilaire \nLes Hôtesses d’Hilaire\, a multi-awards winning Acadian band hails from New Brunswick. With their groovy psychedelic-influenced rock\, the band is known for giving a great show with a bigger-than-nature frontman. \nLes Hôtesses d’Hilaire has performed well over 750 shows over the years. They have zigzagged all over Canada\, from the Pacific to the Artic\, and living on the Atlantic coast. They have recorded six critically acclaimed albums and are presently working on a new project. \nTalking about projects\, they wrote and produced a rock opera that played to sold-out audiences in the province of Quebec and New Brunswick. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Family Literacy Day\, the Tidemark Theatre Society has once again partnered with the Campbell River Literacy Association to present a FREE family event for the community. \nWhat happens if we deny our deepest dreams and desires? Bobert is a silent character a la Charlie Chaplin who has a little red bird for a heart. His story asks us\, what happens if we are to deny our deepest dreams and desires? Teetering on the brink of absolute failure\, love-sick Bobert discovers his heart to be more important than he knew. \nFrom award-winning creator and actor Candice Roberts\, comes a clown tour de force of comedy and conundrum. With vintage silent film styling\, shadow puppetry\, stop motion animation projections\, dance and live music\, the world of Ideas Bobert is rich with magic and creativity. Like Ginger Rogers meets Mr. Bean on the Muppet show\, Ideas Bobert dances with the hilarious absurd. \nMore about the show and its creator: Ideas Bobert is whimsy and fiction\, but for its creator Candice Roberts\, it resonates with her truth. Common amongst many comedy artists\, Candice has struggled with anxiety and depression. She claims that clown school saved her life. For her\, the art of clowning encompasses such fundamental life-skills as connection with oneself and community\, creative communication and of becoming comfortable in the discomfort that is the unknown. \nClowning for her celebrates the multi-facets of what it means to be human. It is the investigation of what is absurd or confounding about ourselves and society. It is the sharing of vulnerability and honesty and the dissolving of shame through exposure. Through Ideas Bobert\, she hopes to inspire a deep belly laugh\, a tender tear and a reminder of how important it is to listen with our hearts and to be in touch with our creative selves. \nThere is no cost to watch!
