SUMMARY:A Passion for Nature - Art Reception
DESCRIPTION:A Passion for Nature is a joint exhibition showcasing the work of local artists\, Carole Goodwin and Jill Paris Rody. \nCarole Goodwin\n“The diverse beauty of the island has given me a deep appreciation for the bright colours and magnificent scenery that I am privileged to see every day. \nWhen I paint I look for a spiritual connection to my subject\, as I desire to feel the oneness of nature and acknowledge my connectedness to it. Sometimes I do this through writing or meditative stillness\, which greatly adds to the emotional inspiration for my artwork. My work has evolved over time\, and today it is mostly experimental\, using mixed media and acrylic. Collage\, gels and other mediums are also used to create texture\, which is then covered with gold or silver leaf. This gives the piece a reflective light source for the many transparent glazes used in each area of the painting. \nThe work is a progression\, with fusions of multiple layers\, and is transformed -beginning to end- from ‘idea to passion;’ this is my gift to others.” \nJill Paris Rody\n“From an early age I was drawn to the expressive images painted by two well-known artists Norman Rockwell and Andrew Wyeth. This instilled in me a desire to share emotion in my work\, and to find ways to express the universal expressions of hope\, and peace. \nMore recently I’ve been drawn to the Impressionist era; The Group of Seven; and Tom Thompson\, with their connection to the land and their passion for the great outdoors. \nAs an Artist\, I paint not only what I see and experience\, but also what I long for: Peace and Tranquility and a sense of lightheartedness. For me\, Art is best expressed in a Spirit-Sense; I am eager to ‘listen’ to God as I know Him\, and do the work imparted to me as I hear Him. The cycles of the seasons – such as the refreshing yellow-green of new growth on an old maple tree -catch my attention and portray a redemptive quality. Thus\, my work is to present this and other ‘stories’ in texture\, light and color\, using a minimalist palette of rich combinations.”\njillparisrody.com \nGoodwin and Paris Rody’s\, ‘A Passion For Nature’ will be on display in the Tidemark Art Gallery from January 10-February 27. A reception for the show will be held on January 24 from 5-6:30pm.
