Raagaverse with Strings
One of Canada’s most innovative contemporary ensembles, Raagaverse brings together the expressive depth of Hindustani classical music with the freedom of jazz, chamber music, and fearless improvisation. The result is a sound that is both deeply rooted and strikingly original.
Led by acclaimed vocalist, composer, and educator Shruti Ramani, the JUNO-nominated ensemble has earned international acclaim for creating music that bridges cultures with extraordinary artistry and authenticity. Inspired by the rich tradition of Indian ragas while embracing contemporary composition and improvisation, Raagaverse crafts performances of remarkable emotional depth, rhythmic vitality, and breathtaking musical interplay.
Their acclaimed recordings have been celebrated for expanding the possibilities of intercultural collaboration, while each live performance unfolds as a unique conversation between exceptional musicians. Every concert is alive with spontaneity, nuance, and discovery.
For this special Quadra Concerts presentation, Raagaverse expands to an eight-piece ensemble with the addition of a string quartet, creating an even more expansive and cinematic sound world. Sweeping string textures intertwine with piano, bass, percussion, and Shruti Ramani’s luminous vocals to produce music that is both intimate and orchestral, delicate and powerful.
This is a rare opportunity to experience one of Canada’s most adventurous ensembles at the height of its creative powers—an unforgettable evening where ancient musical traditions and contemporary imagination meet in breathtaking harmony.
