CRFF Locals Showcase

Come enjoy the creative works of local filmmakers! This night will feature a series of short films from a variety of genres that are filmed by filmmakers from the northern Vancouver Island region.  You’ll be surprised to discover the professional skills and local stories featured in these films.  There will be opportunities to chat with the various filmmakers in attendance.

Trees, Birds, Rocks (5 min)

Filmaker — Lorne Kraft

A short comedy Sci-Fi about a couple of incompetent aliens visiting our planet

 

Run Wyld (19 min)

Filmakers — Grady Robertson & Noah Vaton (Far North Visuals)

Ultra-marathoner and outdoor instructor, Sophie O’Brien embarks on a mission to raise funds that will allow underprivileged youth from remote communities to experience the transformative power of outdoor education.

 

Between Floors (6 min)

Filmmaker — Stephanie Rossel

A recently divorced couple accidentally end up on the same elevator. As they descend, each reflects on the relationship from first date to ultimate demise.

 

Wind Meets the Tide: Marine Link Tours & Transportation (19 min)

From explosives to totem poles, learn from Campbell River’s Marine Link Tours and Transportation owner Guy Adams & Captain Ron Stevenson about freight delivery and a unique tourist experience with the M.V. Aurora Explorer.

A confused and disoriented girl finds herself in an ominous bog. The more she presses on the more she finds this place is not as it seems to be. Encountering extraordinary anomalies and a mysterious figure, she begins to doubt she will ever escape.

 

Puzzled (5 min)

Filmmaker — Dan Peruzzo (D See Video Productions)

When an avid puzzler comes across a unique mystery puzzle, she embarks on an emotional journey that leads her to a place that was always accessible but may have been overlooked.

 

A Bear’s Necessities (10 min)

Filmmaker — Jemma Titheridge (Wild Bus Films)

Biologist Helen Davis’s decades-long mission to understand the secrets of black bear dens – and how to protect them before it’s too late.

 

Letting Go (29 min)

Filmmaker — Eiko Jones

A journey of three young women learning to skydive, while overcoming anxiety, depression and personal loss. Follow the fear filled first jumps, to the thrills of free fall, on the emotional ride of their lives. Filmed in the sky’s over Campbell River.
