Owen Pallett

Composer. Violin virtuoso. Producer. Arranger. Innovator.

Few contemporary musicians have built a career as wide-ranging as Owen Pallett. Winner of the Polaris Music Prize and an Academy Award nominee for film scoring, Pallett is internationally celebrated as a composer, violinist, arranger, and producer whose work moves effortlessly between contemporary classical music, experimental pop, and film.

As both a solo artist and sought-after collaborator, Pallett has worked with an extraordinary range of musicians, including Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, The National, Frank Ocean, R.E.M., Pet Shop Boys, and many others. They received an Academy Award nomination alongside Will Butler for the score to Her, and have since continued to push musical boundaries through acclaimed solo releases such as In Conflict—produced with Brian Eno—and Island, as well as commissions for orchestras and ensembles around the world.

For this special Quadra Concerts performance, Pallett presents music through an immersive 360-degree spatial audio system that transforms the concert hall into an instrument. Sounds travel fluidly throughout the space, surrounding the audience with intricate layers of violin, electronics, looping, and orchestral textures. Rather than simply listening to music, audiences become enveloped within it.

The result is an intimate yet technologically groundbreaking performance that showcases Pallett’s extraordinary musicianship and singular artistic vision. It is a rare opportunity to experience one of Canada’s most innovative composers in a concert that reimagines how live music can be heard.
