The performing musicians in this year’s Blues Review are the genuine ambassadors of Canadian Blues and Roots music with collective award recognition at the Junos, Maple Blues Awards, CBC Blues Awards and wins at the international Blues Challenge in Memphis. Separately these top-draw musicians tour with their own bands and perform individually throughout the year, drawing both full venues and great reviews; collectively they are simply amazing. All are recording musicians and all are veterans of the Canadian music community. After working together for a week at the Hornby Island Blues Workshop where they instruct new musicians in the ways and means of Blues, and perform together nightly in blues fellowship, they are ready to they take the show to Vancouver Island for one magical night only in what is called the Odyssey Blues Review. If you have witnessed it before you know how special it is; if you have not seen it, you will remember it long after the encore and lights go down. Now in its 20th year, the Odyssey certainly invented the pitch “You do not want to miss this one”.
