Clock/Work

A production for all ages, “Clock/Work” touches on our innate tendency to yearn for what’s ahead and mourn for what has passed.

NANAIMO CONTEMPORARY BALLET proudly presents

“Clock/Work”

“Happy those early days! when I
Shined in my angel infancy.
Before I understood this place
Appointed for my second race,
Or taught my soul to fancy aught…”
~ Henry Vaughn

NCB is proud to present their Season 6 original production of “Clock/Work” with guest choreography by Andrew Haydock (Wen Wei Dance), Julio Fuentes (HDC), Marissa Wong (The Falling Company), Monica Proenca, and Sarah Hutton (HDC).

Led by artistic director Chantelle Ristine, the company comes together for its first live production since 2019. Dancing over 20 original pieces that showcase different relationships and aspects of time, the audience will be taken thorough various interpretations of how we experience the past, present, and future; such as the freedom of childhood, the confusion of adolescence, and the beautiful complexity of adulthood. As seen in past productions such as “Close|Apart”(2018) and “Joy.”(2021), the companies impactful mixture of contemporary, improvisation, spoken word, and contemporary ballet, is a defining factor in what makes the companies productions so memorable.

With special musical guest Jessica Semper of the Nanaimo Chamber Orchestra playing violin and lighting and projection design by Ballet Victoria’s Jason King.

Each season NCB ensures choreographic opportunities to members of the company desiring to enhance their choreographic abilities through practical experience. The following young artists were selected this season :

Emerging, pre-professional choreography by:

  • Lana Nepomuceno
  • Neisha de Jong Pedlow
