Ne.Sans Opera & Dance

Presented by the BC Movement Arts Society

HOURGLASS

A dance quartet set to Piano Études of the celebrated Jewish composer Philip Glass, one of the most innovative and influential composers of the late 20th century. Choreographed by Ne.Sans Opera & Dance Artistic Director Idan Cohen, this series of miniature études comprises spectacular gems hidden within Glass’ body of work.  Hourglass explores the passage of time with an ensemble of dancers that represents a wealth of knowledge that needs to be seen, both as a response to current times, and as a compelling elucidation of Glass’ intent.

SOLO FOR ORPHEUS

A solo with live accordion that draws inspiration from the myth of Orpheus, and Gluck’s opera Orfeo ed Euridice. Choreographed by Idan Cohen and Performed by Ted Littlemore, renowned contemporary dancer, musician, and drag queen.

Ne.Sans Opera Dance

Ne. Sans Opera & Dance is a home for the research and creation of work that seeks to deepen and re-connect opera and dance. Established in 2017 by Artistic Director Idan Cohen in Vancouver, Canada, Ne. Sans is re-imagining and reconnecting Opera & Dance. Directing opera through contemporary dance opens a whole new world of collaborative opportunities.  By experimenting and constantly expanding our knowledge of multi-disciplinary art forms, they are forging what is seen as a natural hybridization of the Arts. Ne.Sans Opera & Dance creates exciting, thought-provoking, artistically challenging art- and to strengthen and inspire our community. www.nesans.net
