Van Django
Rooted in the gypsy jazz traditions of 1930s Paris, Van Django soars far beyond, blending dazzling improvisation, driving rhythms, and boundless creativity. Their performances feature original compositions and imaginative arrangements – including witty mashups that proudly showcase their eclectic influences.
Since forming in 1998, the group has toured extensively across Canada and ventured internationally to the U.S., Europe, and China. From 2008 to 2016, they were frequent performers at Djangofest Northwest, sharing the stage with genre greats like the John Jorgenson Quintet and the legendary guitarist Romane.
Van Django has released four acclaimed albums – Tiptoe Trip, Waltz in the Shape of a Tree, Hotel Europe, and the holiday-themed Cool Yule featuring special guests – all receiving strong radio play on CBC, RDI, Espace Musique, NPR, and Ireland’s Lyric FM.
